Michael Jackson Honored With Concert

As his physician stands trial in his death, Michael Jackson was honored halfway around the world Saturday in a concert in Cardiff, Wales.

Michael Jackson's three children -- Prince, Paris and Blanket -- were attending the concert and were scheduled to appear on stage later in the show for an acknowledgment from the more than 40,000 persons in attendance, a concert spokeswoman told CNN.
Said Jackson brother Tito, who will be performing in the show, about the three children: "Yes, they have a small piece in the show and they are all here to enjoy the evening."
Another sibling performer, Marlon Jackson, said the event commemorated Michael Jackson's life.
"The message today is have a great time and remember him as a positive person and all the different things that he stood for -- not just his music but the human side of him."
In comments before performing, Smokey Robinson said Michael Jackson would have approved.
"I think Michael would have loved it. I am not sure he is not watching any way and that he is not smiling," Robinson said.
Robinson noted how Jackson's doctor is now standing trial in Los Angeles for allegedly causing Jackson's death.
"i actually wish it was in Los Angeles so that it could really counteract the trial, so that people could have a positive image in their head about what is happening with Michael rather than whats going on with the trial," Robinson said.
The "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert" was being held in the 75,000-seat Millennium Stadium, but many of those seats weren't being used for the concert.
The spokeswoman described the concert as nearly sold out. Ticket prices ranged from about $54 to about $155, she said.
The concert's first act was Ne-Yo, she said.
The event was billed as "a worthy celebration of Michael's life," in the words of his mother, whom organizers said was also attending the event. But the concert has been mired in controversy since its inception about its timing, which Jackson family members would attend and which marquee performers would appear.
Members of the Jackson family taking the stage will include brothers Tito, Marlon and Jackie -- who will perform together -- and 3T, which consists of Tito Jackson's three sons, the promoters have said.
Michael Jackson's sister LaToya will also sing at the concert, making her "first full concert performance" in nearly 20 years, promoters said.
But sister Janet Jackson didn't attend. Neither did brothers Jermaine and Randy, who both have criticized the timing of the event.
Other artists to appear at the concert include Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Gladys Knight, Jennifer Hudson, Pixie Lott, Alexandra Burke, Craig David, JLS and Alien Ant Farm, according to promoter Global Live Events.
Beyonce will make an appearance through a video link, the promoters said.
The Black Eyed Peas, however, dropped out for undisclosed reasons.
The Jackson family has been publicly split over the concert since Tito, Marlon, Jackie, LaToya and family matriarch Katherine Jackson announced their support for it in July.
Brothers Jermaine and Randy opposed the show because it occurs in the middle of Dr. Conrad Murray's involuntary manslaughter trial in Los Angeles, which began last month. Prosecutors accuse the doctor of being responsible for the overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol that allegedly killed Michael Jackson in 2009 at age 50.
"We want to make clear that this does not reflect the position of the entire family," the two brothers said in a joint statement. "While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death."
Katherine Jackson has told CNN that she understood her children's objections to the timing of the show, but she felt the event was appropriate.
While she said she will attend most of the Murray trial, she traveled to Wales and was in attendance for the tribute.
In a statement on the concert's website, Katherine Jackson said she was "greatly honored" that Global Live Events planned the concert in memory of her son.
"Michael gave his entire life to the world through his love, his music and his devotion to healing the planet. It is with great gratitude for me to give my complete blessing and full support to what I consider to be the one and only Official Michael Jackson Tribute Concert," Katherine Jackson wrote.
"I am positive that this event will be an event great enough in scale, talent and imagination to form a worthy celebration of Michael's life. It is intended to be the biggest, and the best concert event in the world for many years to come. This is how Michael would have wanted it and I am sure it will be exactly that," she added.
A Jackson family source earlier told CNN that the plan to have the Michael Forever tribute carried live on Facebook for $3.99 was canceled because the labels who own the music rights to the Michael Jackson songs to be performed denied broadcast rights to concert producers.

David Gest meets Tito Jackson

enjoy

another interview with tito jackie and marlon

here  is a little piece of the interview.. .enjoy :)

“They’re [Jermaine, Randy and Janet] speaking what they feel in their hearts and it’s our brother.
“To you he may be ‘Michael Jackson, icon’ or whatever. To us he’s our brother and each one of us feels different about our brother and if they don’t want to partake or participate in this then we respect their decision, but that’s their decision.
“That’s how they feel right now because it’s their brother, but what I feel is I want to do this because I want to enjoy the other side of my brother’s life, the joyful side.
“I’m not saying that they don’t want to but it may not be the time for them. But for me, I feel it’s the right time for me.”
Tito, 57, said the gig had been planned more than six months ago and the proposed trial date had changed a number of times.
“We were there [at court] last week with our mother and it was quite rough on her, and that’s one thing with the timing – I look at it actually as a good release and a relief for my mother to be able to look at the brighter side of things and celebrate her son’s contribution and not to be in a court hearing how things happened with his life.

Jackson family to attend Life Of An Icon premiere

Tito Jackson who will be attending premiere Michael Jackson's family will attend the world premiere of a new documentary exploring the life of the singer.
Katherine Jackson and her children Tito and Rebbie will join David Gest for a special screening of 'Michael Jackson: The Life Of An Icon' - which comprises interviews with more than 50 of Michael's closest friends and family - at the star-studded event at the Empire, Leicester Square, in London next month.
David will also host a special after-party which will feature performances from several soul legends who appear in the film and he will also present Tito and his new fiancee Sonia Galineo with a special gift to mark their recent engagement.
David said: "I am thrilled that Katherine, Tito, Rebbie, director Andrew Eastel, Thomas [Mesereau] and Susan [Yu] as well as 100 stars will be in attendance for the world premiere of my new film. There is going to be a jam at the invitation-only after-party following the premiere and more than 20 legendary artists who appear in the film will take part. This party is going to be historic!"
Katherine, Tito, Rebbie, Andrew, David and lawyers Thomas Mesereau and Susan Yu - who successfully acquitted Michael of all charges during his child molestation court case in 2005 - will also participate in a special Q&A to discuss their involvement in the project prior to the screening.
Jackson 5 star Tito popped the question to fitness and beauty expert Sonia - who he has been dating for years - in August and she didn't hesitate to say "yes".
David hosted a party at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas last month for Tito and Sonia which was also attended by other members of the Jackson family including his brother Jackie and mother Katherine.
During the bash, David was mobbed by 40 English people dining at a nearby table who were asking him about his time on 'I'm A Celebrity. Get Me Out of Here!' in 2006 and his housekeeper Vaginica Seaman, who he spoke about in the jungle and whom Michael knew.
Katherine, 81, asked the producer: "Is that her real name?"
To which he replied: "Yes."
Katherine then exclaimed: "She should change it!"
The 58-year-old star also wanted to thrown the bash to lift the family's spirits ahead of the start of the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray - who is accused of administering the lethal dose of Propofol which killed Michael in June 2009.
'Michael Jackson: The Life Of An Icon' will hold its world premiere at the Empire in London's Leicester Square on November 2.

Tour will honour Michael Jackson's life

MICHAEL Jackson's siblings Tito and Rebbie Jackson are to visit Bristol as part of a new live tour paying tribute to the superstar.
The tour, starting in March, will honour the pop icon's life and is called A Jackson Named Michael: Remembering a Legend.
TV star and producer David Gest, who was one of Jackson's closest childhood friends, will be joined by the late singer's brother and sister as well as singer Deniece Williams, famous for her number one UK hits Let's Hear It For The Boy, Free and Too Much, Too Little, Too Late.
The shows will include music and interviews, with never-before-told details about Michael Jackson and his phenomenal career.
Williams, a Jackson family friend for nearly five decades, grew up near the Jackson family home in Gary, Indiana.
She will perform a number of her hit tunes along with renditions from Rebbie Jackson, who made the top 10 in the US with her hit entitled Centipede.
Tito Jackson will perform some of the classic Jackson 5 and the Jacksons hits including Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) with the audience joining in.
The setting for each show will be intimate with just a trio, pianist and movie screen, while the stage itself will be adorned with images of Michael.
The tour will run across the UK but it is not yet known which venue will be used for the show in Bristol and the date is still to be confirmed.
