TJ Jackson to Fill King of Pop’s Moonwalking Shoes: Michael Jackson’s Nephew Will Star in 'Sisterella' With Taylor Dayne
TJ Jackson—Tito Jackson’s son, Michael Jackson’s nephew—has been chosen to fill a major role left behind by his famous uncle’s tragic death. TJ Jackson will play the role of Prince Jean Luc in Larry Hart’s musical ‘Sisterella’ opposite '90s star Taylor Dayne. The show is due to open in Los Angeles next spring.
According to the Canadian Press, the role was originally written for “King of Pop” Michael Jackson. The superstar singer and performer was slated to appear in the role following the conclusion of his ‘This Is It’ tour. Also starring in the production is hit songstress Taylor Dayne. The story involves a wicked stepmother trying to steal her stepdaughter’s fortune in turn-of-the-century New York. Michael Jackson was the executive producer of the original 1996 production on ‘Sisterella,’ which premiered at the Pasadena Playhouse.
Is TJ Jackson the right choice for such a role? Or is the Jackson family playing on public sympathy to keep their entertainment dynasty rolling? TJ—whose real name is Tito Joe—has been, up until, best known for being part of R&B group 3T along with his two brothers. While the group found some success with hits in the mid-90s, most of TJ’s public exposure has been Jackson family related, including appearing onstage at Michael Jackson’s memorial along with his children Paris and Prince, and participating in the ‘We are the World’ remake earlier this year.
It remains to be seen whether TJ Jackson has the acting and singing chops necessary to do justice to his late uncle’s role in ‘Sisterella.’ While keeping it all in the family is nice, it’s also true there’s a wide range of talent in the Jackson clan. Will TJ be the next big thing, or just a flash in the pan who relies on nepotism to get ahead in the entertainment industry? Jackson family fans will have to wait until opening night to find out.
Of course TJ will make it. He is The JACKSON!!!
